Assistant State’s Attorney-Entry Level Prosecutor

The Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office is seeking highly motivated and dedicated individuals for entry-level Assistant State’s Attorney positions. Begin a career in prosecution with comprehensive training provided in our District Court Division. 

The Office is led by a career prosecutor and provides robust support to attorneys, including a team of Victim Advocates, Case Managers, Body Worn Camera Paralegals, Investigators, and other administrative staff who are committed to seeking justice for victims of crime.

Location: Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office

Division: District Court Division, locations in Annapolis and Glen Burnie, Maryland

Position Type: Full-Time

Starting Salary: $81,100

Qualifications:

  • Education: J.D. from an accredited law school 
  • Licensing: Admitted to the Maryland Bar
  • Judgment: Demonstrated good judgment and ethical decision-making
  • Skills: Manage a high-volume docket and strong attention to detail

Key Responsibilities:

  • Case Preparation: Review and prepare criminal and serious traffic cases for trial, interview witnesses, coordinate with police agencies
  • Court Advocacy: Represent the State of Maryland in various court proceedings including bail reviews, preliminary hearings, criminal and traffic trials, and sentencings
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research to support case preparation and strategy
  • Communication: Respond to inquiries from the public and governmental agencies
