The Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office is seeking to fill Assistant State’s Attorney positions on Circuit Court level trial teams, handling cases including Violent Crimes, Drug Trafficking, Gun Crimes, Economic Crimes, and Sexual Offenses/Child Abuse. 

The Office is led by a career prosecutor and provides robust support to attorneys, including a team of Victim Advocates, Case Managers, Body Worn Camera Paralegals, Investigators, and other administrative staff who are committed to seeking justice for victims of crime.

Salary: $85,000, commensurate with experience

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Jury trial and motions experience with felony level crimes 
  • Education: J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Licensing: Admitted to the Maryland Bar
  • Judgment: Demonstrated good judgment and ethical decision-making
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Case Preparation: Review, prepare and try complex criminal cases
  • Motions Practice: Respond to and litigate suppression and other motion
  • Court Advocacy: Represent the State of Maryland in various court proceedings including bail reviews, preliminary hearings, criminal trials, VOPS and sentencings
  • Legal Research: Conduct legal research to support case preparation and strategy
  • Communication: Respond to inquiries from the public and governmental agencies
