Assistant State’s Attorney-Juvenile Prosecutor

The Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office is seeking to fill an Assistant State’s Attorney position on our Juvenile prosecution team. Applicants may be entry level or already have juvenile prosecution experience. 

The Office is led by a career prosecutor and provides robust support to attorneys, including a team of Victim Advocates, Case Managers, Body Worn Camera Paralegals, Investigators, and other administrative staff who are committed to seeking justice for victims of crime.

Division: Juvenile Trial Team, Annapolis, MD

Position Type: Full-Time

Starting Salary: $81,100, commensurate with experience

Qualifications:

  • Education: J.D. from an accredited law school 
  • Licensing: Admitted to the Maryland Bar
  • Judgment: Demonstrated good judgment and ethical decision-making
  • Skills: Manage a mix of misdemeanor and felony level cases, and strong attention to detail

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Case Preparation: Screen, charge and prepare juvenile cases, both misdemeanor and felony
  • Court Advocacy: Represent the State of Maryland in all juvenile delinquency matters, including detention, competency, adjudication, disposition and review hearings
  • Legal Research: Reviewing and screening juvenile delinquency reports and determining appropriate charges; conducting legal research to support case preparation and strategy
  • Communication: Respond to inquiries from the public and governmental agencies
