Internship Description:
This internship is an extension of academic instruction and provides the opportunity to turn classroom instruction into practical application in the workplace. The intern will draw upon the knowledge gained through their college coursework in order to perform the principal assignment and/or projects of this internship.
Preferred Experience/Courses Taken:
Introduction to Computers, Desired experience with Microsoft and/or Google. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Description of the Interns Assignment:
Back to School Program - a joint program with the AACo. Public Schools that provides backpacks and school supplies to more than 4500 low income elementary school students each year. If this intern is beyond the summer, the student has an opportunity to learn more about other projects in the Community Initiatives & Programs Division.
Gain an understanding of how the Back to School Program fits into the overall mission of the department. Learn about and interact with hundreds of community donors. Gain knowledge of the need for families to gain assistance to provide their children with the necessities of school.
Opportunity to participate in community events and media activities. Deliver backpacks
and school supplies to several elementary schools.
