Part-time positions are available with the Child Care Division of the Department of Recreation and Parks. Applicants must be able to work weekdays. School-Age positions are AM and/or PM providing care before and after school. Preschool positions may be available anytime from 6:45 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Please call (410) 222-7856 for additional information.
- Minimum age - 21 years
- Education - High School Diploma or GED
- Additional College Coursework required for School-Age Programs - a total of 135 clock hours (9 CEU's) in the following: 45 clock hours in child growth & development, 45 clock hours of school-age curriculum, and 45 clock hours of child care administration
- Additional College Coursework required for Preschool Programs - see COMAR 16.06.06 (dependent upon size of preschool)
- Additional Pre-Service Requirements - 9 clock hours in communicating with staff, parents & the public, and 3 clock hours in MSDE-OCC child care regulation training
- Experience - dependent upon size & ages of participants in the program applying for; generally 1 year of experience required working with the necessary age group in a licensed child care setting
- All Directors are required to obtain Emergency Preparedness, Medication Administration, Basics of Behavior Management, CPR and First Aid upon hire (provided by employer)
