Briefly describe the main purpose the internship: Provide an introductory training to procurement operations within a County Government
Describe the Intern’s principal learning assignments and/or projects. What will the Intern learn about, be exposed to, or assist with? The County’s Purchasing Intern Position blends job shadowing, hands-on procurement experience, and skill-building exercises in a fast-paced procurement atmosphere. The successful applicant will gain experience in negotiations, supply risk mitigation, eProcurement system operations, and competitive solicitations. Throughout the internship, the successful candidate will be working on a final presentation that will be delivered in front of the entire Purchasing Division to showcase and test skills attained during their internship.
Describe what the Intern will achieve through this experience: This internship is designed to prepare college students for careers in the procurement and supply chain management field. By undertaking this internship, the participant will learn industry-leading practices and how to perform in a fast-paced procurement organization.
