Homicide (Arrest Update) / Brooklyn

On February 27, 2022, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers responded to 4001 Ritchie Highway for a body located behind the business. Upon arrival, officers discovered a deceased male with apparent trauma to his body. A Forensic Investigator from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) and Homicide Detectives responded. The victim was identified as Devin Scott Freeman, a 19-year-old male. Mr. Freeman was transported to the OCME for an autopsy, where the cause and manner of death will be determined.

Update (March 1, 2022): The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner performed an autopsy on Mr. Freeman and determined his cause of death as gunshot wound(s), with the manner being homicide. Homicide Unit detectives continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-4731. Update (March 9, 2022): Through investigative means, homicide detectives identified 18-year-old Jaden Crowner as the suspect in this case. Detectives applied for and received charges against Mr. Crowner for the homicide of Mr. Freeman.

Update (June 8, 2022): Through the ongoing investigation, a second suspect, identified as 18-year-old Devin Garrett Twigg, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Devin Freeman.
