Fatal Pedestrian Crash - Maryland City

On April 17, 2024, at approximately 11:10 a.m., officers responded to Laurel Fort Meade Road at Old Annapolis Road for a crash involving a pedestrian. The investigation revealed that a pedestrian was crossing Old Annapolis Road at the traffic light at Laurel Fort Meade Road when he was struck by a 2019 Ford F-250 Super Duty pickup truck turning right onto eastbound Laurel Fort Meade Road. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. The crash is currently under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

Carjacking - Linthicum

Detectives assigned to the Northern District are investigating a carjacking that occurred in the 500 block of Progress Drive in Linthicum on April 16, 2024, at approximately 11:15 p.m. The adult male victim was putting air in his car tires when he was approached by an armed black male suspect wearing dark clothing. The suspect displayed a handgun and drove off in the victim's 2020 Ford F-150 on West Nursery Road toward MD Route 295. Officers searched the area but did not locate the vehicle or suspect. Fatal Crash - Laurel

On April 17, 2024, at approximately 12:15 a.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Laurel Fort Meade Road (Route 198) at Laurel Racetrack Road in Laurel. The investigation would reveal that a 2019 Jeep Wrangler was traveling west on Laurel Fort Meade Road when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed into the eastbound lanes while continuing to travel westbound. The Jeep jumped the curb and struck a guardrail before going airborne. When the vehicle landed, the driver was ejected, and the Jeep began to overturn before coming to rest off of the roadway. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Anne Arundel County Fire Department and was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy will be conducted. The Traffic Safety Section is investigating this crash.
