On Friday, April 1st at approximately 9:15 p.m. an officer was on patrol in Severn-Danza Park when he heard a crash in his immediate vicinity. He discovered a vehicle had lost control on Donaldson Avenue and went off the road through trees and a fence before becoming half-submerged in a drainage pond in the park. The vehicle was taking on water with occupants trapped inside. The supervisor and an officer, without hesitation, leaped into action to conduct a rescue of the four occupants, including a 9-month-old and 3-year-old child. Officers had to break the passenger windows of the vehicle to gain access inside. Officers carried the children to safety and returned to rescue the adults. Aside from being cold and wet, everyone involved was unharmed. The unlicensed driver was arrested due to outstanding warrants.

Northern District
Robbery - Glen Burnie

On April 1, 2022, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a mother of a juvenile victim called the desk officer at the Northern District station to report her son was robbed by a juvenile male wielding what is believed to be a BB gun. The children were at a park located at 6107 Heritage Hills Drive when one displayed a BB gun and demanded the other child empty his pockets. The victim handed over candy that was in his pockets. The suspect then threw another child down to the ground and left the area. Northern District detectives are investigating leads into the identity of the suspect child. Anyone with information regarding the possible identity of the child suspect involved is asked to call 410-222-6135 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

Citizen Robbery - Laurel

On April 2, 2022, at approximately 8:10 a.m., officers responded for a robbery of a citizen at the Motel 6 located at 3510 Old Annapolis Road in Laurel. The adult female victim was in a room with a male suspect who displayed a handgun and forced her into the bathroom. The suspect then removed cash and credit cards from the victim's purse and fled. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The victim did not report any injuries. Western District detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6155 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

Theft - Laurel

On April 2, 2022, at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers responded to the BP gas station located at 3396 Laurel Fort Meade Road in Laurel for an unknown disturbance. The manager reported a male suspect cashed in several lottery tickets that were later found to have been stolen during an earlier burglary of a gas station in Howard County. The manager described the suspect whom he had seen enter the Garden Inn located next door to the gas station. Officers went to the Garden Inn and were able to locate the suspect, who was taken into custody and charged accordingly.
