On August 19, 2022, at approximately 6:20 p.m., an officer was driving southbound on Route 10 approaching E. Furnace Branch Road when she encountered a bicyclist lying in the roadway. The officer rendered medical assistance along with the assistance of bystanders, performing CPR until medical professionals arrived on the scene. Paramedics could not revive the bicyclist, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the motor vehicle that collided with the cyclist remained at the scene.
The investigation revealed that the bicyclist was riding on the southbound shoulder of Route 10 towards E. Furnace Branch Road when he suddenly turned left and rode directly into the path of a 2016 Hyundai Sonata.
The bicyclist was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

On Sunday, August 21, 2022, at approximately 8:40 p.m., Anne Arundel County Police Officers responded to the area of Pioneer Drive and Arwell Court in Severn for a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male, identified as Naim Rashid Addison, 20, of Severn, Maryland, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Mr. Addison was seated in the driver's seat of a tan 2008 Honda Civic when the shooting occurred. Unfortunately, lifesaving efforts could not revive the male, who was pronounced deceased at an area hospital.
The Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Unit is investigating. Evidence recovered from the scene indicates this was a targeted incident and not a random act of violence.
