Attempted Theft - Glen Burnie

On December 25, 2021, at approximately 12:30 a.m. officers responded to the area of Crain Highway and Furnace Branch Road in Glen Burnie for a report of suspicious activity.  When officers arrived, they observed two males preparing to remove a catalytic converter from a gray 2009 Infiniti.  A portable generator was located in the back of the vehicle used by the suspects to power a reciprocating saw located beneath the Infiniti. Both males were arrested and charged accordingly.

Fatal Traffic Crash - Pasadena

On December 26, 2021, at 19:40 hours, Northern District officers responded to Mountain Road at Freetown Road for a crash involving two vehicles.  The investigation revealed that a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe was traveling westbound on Mountain Road approaching Freetown Road when a 1999 Acura RL ran the stop sign at Freetown Road and Mountain Road. The driver of the Hyundai was unable to avoid striking the Acura. The driver of the Acura was pronounced deceased at the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials. The passenger of the Acura was transported to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries. The driver of the Hyundai was transported to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center with minor injuries. Preliminarily, the primary cause of this crash is the driver of the Acura failing to stop at a stop sign. The crash is currently under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

Destruction (Shots Fired) - Lothian

On December 23, 2021, at approximately 1:50 p.m. officers responded for a report of gunshots fired at a residence in the 1000 block of Upper Pindell Road in Lothian. The homeowner reported she and another resident were inside the house an hour earlier when they heard several gunshots fired outside the residence.  One projectile had penetrated a window and became lodged in an interior wall. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Southern District detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-1960 to the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.
