Carjacking - Glen Burnie

On December 5, 2021, at approximately 12:05 a.m. officers responded to the area of Ritchie Highway and Shelley Road in Glen Burnie for a carjacking. The 36-year-old victim reported he picked up a male and female in Baltimore and gave them a ride. When they reached Route 2 and Shelley Road in Glen Burnie, the male passenger became agitated and jabbed the knife into the victim's back while making demands. The victim got out of his vehicle, a white 2006 Toyota Avalon, which was then taken by the suspects. The victim suffered from minor, non-life-threatening injuries. Through investigation, detectives were able to identify the passengers who were later arrested and charged accordingly.

Weapons Offense - Severna Park

On December 3, 2021, at approximately 11:20 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop of a black Ford Mustang at Ritchie Highway and Cypress Creek in Severna Park. During the stop, probable cause for a search was developed and a loaded .45 caliber Glock 30 handgun with 13 rounds of ammunition was located in the center console. The driver is prohibited from possessing firearms due to age and was arrested and charged accordingly.

Assault (Shooting) - Severn

On December 4, 2021, at approximately 7:35 p.m. officers responded for a report of a shooting in the area of Stillmeadows Drive and Stewarton Court in Severn. The 25-year-old adult male victim was walking down the street when an unknown occupant of a silver sedan fired several gunshots at him, striking the victim once in his lower body. Two parked vehicles, a silver Lexus GS550 and a gray Ram 1500 were struck by the rounds. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Western District detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6155. On December 4, 2021, at approximately 6:00 a.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop of a gray 2012 Honda Accord on Laurel Fort Meade Road near Whiskey Bottom Road in Laurel. During the stop, probable cause for a search was developed and a 10mm Glock 29 handgun was located under the driver’s seat. The driver was arrested and charged accordingly.

On December 5, 2021, at approximately 10:20 p.m. an officer conducted a traffic stop of a gold 1999 Mercedes E320 in the 1200 block of Falcon Point Drive in Severn. During the stop, probable cause for a search was developed and a .38 caliber Hi-Point Model CF loaded with seven rounds was found inside the vehicle. The driver is prohibited from possessing firearms due to age and was arrested and charged accordingly.

Fatal Crash - Shady Side

On December 5, 2021, at approximately 1:20 a.m. officers responded to Snug Harbor Road in the area of Idlewilde Road for a single-vehicle crash. A 2003 Acura TL was traveling east on Snug Harbor Road approaching Idlewilde Road. For an unknown reason, the vehicle went off the right side of the roadway into a drainage ditch. The Acura then struck a mailbox, rolled over, and struck a utility pole. The driver, who was the only occupant, was partially ejected. The driver was pronounced deceased on the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel.
Preliminarily, the primary cause of this crash is the driver failing to drive within a single lane. The investigation is being handled by the Traffic Safety Section.
