Shooting (Non-Contact) - Brooklyn

On February 11, 2023, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers responded for a report of shots being fired in the 500 block of Wood Street in Brooklyn. The caller directed officers to the area where the caller observed the shots being fired. Officers found unspent cartridges on the ground. Contact was made with the occupants of the residence where the cartridges were located; they denied involvement. During the preliminary investigation, officers could not locate any victims or property damage due to the shooting. Robbery (Strong Arm) - Brooklyn

On February 11, 2023, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers responded for a report of a robbery that just occurred in the 5000 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn. Officers learned that the victim met with the suspect to purchase a cell phone. After the victim provided the suspect with the money, the suspect took the phone back and pushed the victim down. The suspect fled on foot towards Baltimore City. Home Invasion - Brooklyn

On February 12, 2023, at approximately 10:15 a.m., officers responded for a report of a home invasion that just occurred in the 5300 block of 4th Street in Brooklyn. During their investigation, officers learned that the suspect, who is known to the victim, entered the unlocked rear door of the residence and began to assault the victim as she was sleeping. The suspect struck the victim's head and face area causing injuries. The suspect attempted to steal the victim's purse, but the victim got the purse away from the suspect. The victim reports that the physical assault continued until the suspect left the residence. A moment later, the suspect tried to enter the house again by kicking and punching the door. However, the victim was able to lock the door and call law enforcement for assistance. The suspect fled the residence before the officers' arrival. Suspect: White female, 26-30 years old, 5’-00” to 5’-04”, 130lbs-150lbs.

Robbery (Commercial) - Glen Burnie

On February 12, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m., officers responded for a report of a robbery that just occurred at the Family Mart and Grocery & Tobacco, 7604 Baltimore Annapolis Road in Glen Burnie. The clerk advised that three black males entered the store, walked behind the counter, and forced her to the ground. Once on the floor, one of the males pushed a handgun into her torso. The victim stated that the suspects took $1800.00 dollars from a lock box and fled the area on foot.   1. Black male, wearing all black, approximately 30-35 years of age, armed with a handgun.
  2. Black male, wearing all black, approximately 16-20 years of age.
  3. Black male, wearing all black, unknown age.

First-Degree Assault - Linthicum Heights

On February 12, 2023, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded for a report of an assault that just occurred at the Sonesta Extended Stay Hotel, 1160 Winterson Road in Linthicum. Officers learned that the victim watched the Super Bowl with her boyfriend and a second unknown male. The victim went on to state that she and her boyfriend got into a verbal dispute, and the unknown male grabbed the victim by her neck and held a steak knife to her throat while threatening to kill her. The victim’s boyfriend and the unknown male were gone upon the officers' arrival. Robbery (Citizen) - Jessup

On February 10, 2023, at approximately 10:30 a.m., officers responded for a report of a robbery that just occurred in the 2400 block of Merritt Drive in Jessup. The victim reported that while taking the trash out, the suspect approached him from behind, pressed what he believed to be a tire iron against him, and demanded money. The victim handed the suspect $60-80 cash, who fled in a white sedan onto National Business Parkway toward Jessup Road. The victim described the suspect as a white male between 5’8 and 5’10, weighing 180-200 pounds. A short time later, the same suspect attempted a second robbery in Laurel and was apprehended (23-705160).

Robbery (Citizen) - Laurel

On February 10, 2023, at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers responded for a report of a robbery that just occurred in the 3300 block of Corridor Marketplace in Laurel. The victim indicated that she was exiting her vehicle in the parking lot of Total Wine when the suspect stopped his car behind her, exited his vehicle armed with a crowbar, and attempted to snatch her purse. The two struggled over her purse, and the suspect threatened to kill her. Several good samaritans came to the victim’s aid and forcibly restrained the suspect until police arrived. Based on witness information and evidence found at the scene, it was determined that the same suspect was responsible for the robbery reported earlier in Jessup (23-705139). Western District detectives are still investigating the incident and have not ruled out the possibility of more victims. Southern District 
(UPDATE) Fatal Pedestrian Crash - Annapolis

On February 12, 2023, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Southern District officers responded to Riva Road at Broad Creek Drive for a crash. The investigation revealed that a pedestrian crossed the southbound lanes of Riva Road against the traffic signal. The pedestrian was wearing dark, non-reflective clothing and walking from west to east when she was struck by a 2016 Ford Focus. The pedestrian was transported to Anne Arundel Medical Center by Anne Arundel County Fire Department paramedics with life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the hospital a short time after arrival. The driver of the Ford remained at the scene and was not injured. The Traffic Safety Section is investigating the crash.
