Fatal Traffic Crash - Harwood MD

On February 24, 2024, at approximately 12:29 pm., officers responded to Muddy Creek Road (Rt. 468) at Mill Swamp Road, Harwood Maryland for a traffic collision involving two vehicles. The investigation would reveal that (V2) a 1995 Ford Pickup truck pulling a trailer was traveling southbound on Muddy Creek Road when (V1) a 2001 Silver Honda Civic crossed the yellow line for unknown reasons and struck the Ford Truck (V2).
 
The passenger of the Honda was pronounced deceased by the Anne Arundel County Fire Department at the scene. The driver of the Honda sustained serious injuries and was flown by Maryland State Police Trooper 2 to MedStar Hospital in DC and is listed as critical but stable condition.
 
The driver and passenger of the Ford Pickup Truck suffered minor injuries and were transported to the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis.
 
The Anne Arundel County Police Traffic Safety Section is investigating this crash.

Office of Professional Standards

On February 24, 2024, an Anne Arundel County Police Officer was issued a criminal summons, charging the officer with second-degree assault for the officer’s involvement in an off-duty, domestic-related incident. The officer is identified as Corporal R. Daniel, an 8-year veteran of the Anne Arundel County Police Department assigned to the Bureau of Administration. Corporal Daniel has been administratively suspended with pay pending an investigation by the Office of Professional Standards.
