Child Pornography (Arrest) / Brooklyn Park
On May 12, 2020, the Anne Arundel County Child Abuse Unit initiated an investigation in reference to a report of a specific account that was directly associated in uploading child pornographic images to a particular internet site. The information was provided by the “National Center for Missing and Exploited Children” (NCMEC) which is a non-profit organization whose mission is to find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation and prevent child victimization.
As a result of issuing and executing several court orders, detectives identified a suspect as well as his place of residence. On June 29, 2020, detectives executed a residential search warrant in the 700 block of Hammonds Lane, Brooklyn, Maryland. The suspect who was identified as Eric William Marney, a thirty two year-old-male of the same address, was on scene. Numerous digital devices were taken into custody and secured as evidence in order that the devices could be analyzed. Upon the results of the forensic analysis, detectives recovered approximately one thousand (1,000) images of child pornography.
Working in conjunction with the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office, detectives submitted an application for charges to the Anne Arundel County Court Commissioners Office. A warrant was issued for the arrest of Eric Marney charging him with sixteen counts of possession of child pornography and six counts of distribution of child pornography. On February 6, 2021, the suspect was placed under arrest without incident and transported to Central Booking where he was served a copy of the warrant. Eric Marney is currently being held without bail at the Anne Arundel County Detention Center as of February 6, 2021.

On February 7, 2021 at approximately 12:45 a.m. Eastern District officers conducted a traffic stop of a blue Lexus at Elvaton Road and Tall Pines Court in Glen Burnie. An investigation led to a search of the vehicle which resulted in the recovery of a black, Century Arms TP9DA, 9mm handgun loaded with 9 rounds. The driver was arrested and charged.

On February 7, 2021 at approximately 1:20 a.m. Western District officers conducted a traffic stop of a white Cadillac CTS at Crain Highway South and Waugh Chapel Road in Gambrills. An investigation led to a search of the vehicle which resulted in the recovery of Ruger LCP2 .380 handgun. The driver was arrested and charged.
