Fatal Single Vehicle Crash - Friendship

On July 14, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., officers responded to Friendship Road near Fairhaven Road for a single-vehicle crash. The investigation revealed a 2020 Nissan Versa was traveling westbound at a high rate of speed on Friendship Road. The driver failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, and the vehicle left the roadway. The Nissan traveled up an embankment, struck several trees, and overturned in a ditch. The driver and front seat passenger were transported to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center with serious injuries. While en route to the hospital, the driver went into cardiac arrest and was pronounced deceased at the hospital. This crash is under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

Bank Robbery - Glen Burnie

On July 12, 2024, at approximately 12:40 p.m., officers were notified of a commercial hold-up alarm at the PNC Bank located at 7301 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. A female suspect approached a teller, implied she was armed, and demanded cash. The teller placed money in a black bag and handed it to the suspect. Another employee triggered the alarm. The suspect fled the bank after receiving the money. A responding officer observed a possible suspect in a gold Mercury in the area of 7th Avenue near Kuethe Road. The suspect was positively identified and found to be in possession of the black bag of money from the bank. The suspect was arrested and charged.

Robbery (Commercial) - Brooklyn

On July 14, 2024, at approximately 9:35 p.m., officers responded to Daddy Pa’s convenience store located at 4114 Belle Grove Road in Brooklyn for an armed robbery. Two male suspects entered the store.  One of the suspects pointed a handgun at the clerk and demanded money. The employee complied, and the suspects fled on foot toward Arundel Road.  Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.  Detectives assigned to the Regional Crimes Unit are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-4730 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

Eastern District

CDS/Weapons Violation - Glen Burnie

On July 13, 2024, at approximately 9:05 p.m., officers observed a male with a handgun in the area of Silent Winds Court and Silent Breeze Court in Glen Burnie. The suspect fled into a wooded area as the officers approached.  Officers observed the suspect walk out of the woods with a second suspect. The males placed items into a gray Honda Civic. The suspects were detained, and officers located a .22 caliber handgun, approximately 209 grams of suspected cannabis, and a digital scale with suspected cocaine residue from the Honda. The initial suspect was arrested and charged. CDS/Weapons Violation/MV Theft - Laurel

On July 11, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., officers located a stolen 2016 Honda Accord in the parking lot of the Motel 6 located at 3510 Old Annapolis Road in Laurel. The investigation led officers to a room at the motel where the occupants of the stolen vehicle were staying. Four suspects were located at the room, where officers observed suspected CDS and weapons in plain view.  The suspects were taken into custody.  A search warrant was executed at the room, resulting in the seizure of the following items:

Glock 19 loaded with 10 rounds
Glock 26 loaded with 12 rounds
42 suspected pressed fentanyl pills
1.5 grams of suspected Xanax
Two digital scales
Multiple cell phones

On July 12, 2024, another stolen vehicle, a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado, was located at the Motel 6.  That vehicle was determined to be linked to one of the suspects (Awkward) already in custody from the previous incident.

Western District

Strong-Arm Robbery (Commercial) - Hanover

On July 13, 2024, at approximately 10:45 p.m., officers responded to the Exxon gas station located at 7898 Ridge Road in Hanover for a strong-arm robbery of the business. The investigation revealed two suspects jumped over the counter and assaulted the clerk while a third suspect stole merchandise. The suspects fled on foot.  Officers searched the area and located two of the suspects and are working to locate the third, who has been identified.
