Fatal Crash - Linthicum

On July 25, 2022, at 12:58 p.m., Northern District officers responded to N. Hammonds Ferry Road at I-695 for a crash involving a sedan and an SUV. The investigation revealed a 2013 Hyundai Elantra was traveling down the exit ramp from eastbound I-695 approaching N. Hammonds Ferry Road. Witnesses stated that the signal at the bottom of the ramp was a steady red signal. The Hyundai came down the ramp, jumped the concrete median, and continued straight ahead through the red light and into the intersection. A 2004 Mercedes ML350 was traveling northbound on N. Hammonds Ferry Road, approaching the traffic light at the I-695 interchange, and struck the Hyundai as it drove through the intersection. The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced deceased at the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel. The driver of the Mercedes was not injured. The Traffic Safety Section is investigating the crash.
