Stabbing (Arrest) / Laurel

On July 25, 2020 at approximately 3:45 p.m. officers responded for an assault that occurred in the area of Marganza South and Wenona South in Laurel. A 16 year old victim was involved in an altercation with three or four male subjects at the Tobacco Park Store located at 3511 Laurel Fort Meade Road. The victim left the area in his vehicle. The suspects involved in the initial altercation located the victim in the area of Marganza South and Wenona South and assaulted him. During the assault, one of the suspects stabbed the victim. The suspects fled. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigation resulted in the identification of the 17 year old suspect who was arrested and transported to central booking for processing where he was charged as an adult. On July 26, 2020 at approximately 2:30 a.m. officers responded to the 7000 block of Arundel Mills Circle for a report of a stabbing. The adult male victim punched the suspect during an argument. The victim then ran but was followed by the suspect who stabbed him with an unknown weapon. The victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was uncooperative and refused to provide additional details to detectives. Western District detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6155 or the TipLine 410-222-4700.

Fatal Crash / Crofton
20-723373

On July 25, 2020, at approximately 11:27 p.m. officers responded to the area of Crain Highway South (MD-Route 3) and Cronson Boulevard in Crofton for a multiple vehicle crash.

A 2009 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling south on Crain Highway approaching Cronson Boulevard as was a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. The Equinox started from a red traffic signal and continued south on Crain Highway and began to change lanes preparing for a right turn into a local gas station parking lot. The motorcycle struck the right side of Equinox causing the driver to separate from the motorcycle.

Two occupants were inside of the Equinox at the time of the crash and were not injured. The driver of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. The body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

The primary cause of the crash is undetermined as is whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash. Investigation is ongoing and toxicology results are pending. The Traffic Safety Section is handling the investigation and the case will be reviewed by the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s office upon completion.
