Shooting (Arrest Update) / Glen Burnie

On May 21, 2020 at approximately 6:20 p.m. officers responded to the 100 block of Loyd Lane for a report of a shooting. A 14-year-old was located inside the building suffering from a single gunshot wound. The victim was transported to an area hospital with a non-life threatening injury. Update (June 1, 2020): After responding to the shooting scene, Northern District Detectives were able to gather evidence that identified the suspect in this shooting as Tyler Berry. After several days of gathering intelligence and conducting surveillance, with the assistance of Maryland State Police, Berry was located and arrested in the 4700 block of BelAir Road in Baltimore. Berry has been charged with multiple counts of attempted murder and several other charges related to the shooting.

On May 31, 2020 at approximately 11:00 p.m. officers responded for a report of gunshots heard in the area of Aquahart Road and Hamlen Road in Glen Burnie. Officers canvassed the area and located a witness who observed one vehicle chasing another while firing at it in the area of Ritchie Highway and Guildford Road. The witness described the vehicles as dark colored sedans. Multiple shell casings and one projectile were located in the roadway. No victims or property damage were located. On May 30, 2020 at approximately 2:50 p.m. officers responded for a stabbing at the Mobil gas station located at 7200 Ritchie Highway in Glen Burnie. Upon arrival, officers located a 30 year old male victim suffering from an apparent stab wound to his upper body. Officers rendered medical aid until EMS personnel arrived and transported him to an area hospital for treatment. The victim was unable to give the location of the assault or any further details. On May 28, 2020 at approximately 11:40 a.m. officers responded for a report of an unknown disturbance at a residence in the 300 block of Delaware Avenue in Glen Burnie. The reporting person advised call takers he believed someone was being shot at. Upon checking the residence, officers observed in plain view several bags of suspected marijuana. Consent was given and a subsequent search of the residence resulted in the recovery of 1.33 pounds of marijuana in 27 plastic ziplock bags, .35 grams of suspected crystal meth, a loaded 22 rifle w/magazine, large bottle of codeine, $1766.00 in currency and five cell phones.

On June 1, 2020 at approximately 4:30 a.m. officers responded to Baltimore Washington Medical Center for a report of a bullet hole in a 7th floor window of the hospital. The investigation revealed that an unknown caliber entered the window and lodged into the wall of an unoccupied room. Patrol officers searched the area surrounding the hospital however were unable to identify where the shot was fired from. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. On May 31, 2020 at approximately 9:20 p.m. officers responded for a report of gunshots fired in the area of the 9300 block of Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena. Witnesses were inside their residence when they heard the sound of two shots outside. Officers searched the area and located one shell casing in the roadway. Officers did not locate any signs of property damage. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. On May 31, 2020 at approximately 3:15 a.m. officers responded to the Sillery Bay Community Beach for a report of a male sleeping on a bench with what appeared to be a handgun in his waistband. Officers arrived and recovered a 9mm Beretta pistol from the subject who was found to be prohibited from possessing firearms. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.

On May 30, 2020 at approximately 9:00 a.m. officers responded for a series of vehicle tampering reports, thefts from vehicles and one motor vehicle theft in the Fox Chase community of Glen Burnie. Property was stolen from several vehicles on Somerset Bay Drive, Foxtree Drive, Foxwell Bend Court and Trumpeter Court and one motor vehicle was reported stolen from Somerset Bay Drive. On Thursday, May 28, 2020 at approximately 11:05 a.m. officers were checking the park located at 500 Everett Road in Glen Burnie when they observed an occupied vehicle. Further investigation resulted in the recovery of three clear gel capsules containing suspected heroin/fentanyl (.90 grams in packaging) and CDS Paraphernalia. Suspect arrested and charged accordingly.

On May 28, 2020 at approximately 9:20 p.m. officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Route 100 and Telegraph Road. Investigation resulted in the recovery of two small plastic wrappers each containing suspected crack cocaine (65g total weight with packaging). The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.
