Adopters Can Bring a Senior Cat Home For Free
Anne Arundel County Animal Care & Control is spreading the word to help Senior cats find "furrever" homes. These cats are in their golden years and we are hoping to find them a comfortable place to live out their lives, because we know despite our best efforts we cannot compete with a home. The open admission shelter for Anne Arundel County residents accepts thousands of animals per year including animals found, surrendered to the shelter and animals impounded/seized for their protection or the safety of the public. In 2018 the shelter had over 800 cats adopted, over 500 cats go to rescue partners, and over 100 cats reunited with their families. Year round, but especially during the warmer months when the shelter gets inundated with kittens, the shelter has the most difficult time finding homes for Senior Cats therefore cats 9 years of age or older are FREE. Senior cats often have the longest length of stay at the shelter because they are often overlooked by shelter visitors. People adopting a senior pet are truly helping the most needy animals among shelter pets. The shelter hopes more people will open their hearts, homes and arms to a Senior Cat.
