Fatal Crash Severn
On June 7, 2019, at approximately 2:36 pm, officers responded to the area of Dicus Mill Road east of Burns Crossing Road in Severn for a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
The on-scene investigation determined that a Yamaha motorcycle was traveling westbound on Dicus Mill Road when the operator, for unknown reasons, lost control, crossed the centerline and struck a truck that was traveling eastbound. The motorcycle operator was declared dead at the scene by Fire Department personnel. The driver of the truck was not injured.
The primary cause of the crash was the motorcycle failing to remain right of center. It is unclear at this time if speed, drugs, or alcohol were involved. The States Attorney's Office will review the case upon completion of the investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.
