Northern District
Fatal Traffic Crash / Glen Burnie

On March 8, 2021, at approximately 3:35 a.m., officers responded for a single vehicle crash in the area of Ritchie Highway and Norfolk Road in Glen Burnie. A white Acura TSX was traveling southbound on MD Route 2 at Norfolk Road when, for unknown reasons, it left its lane of travel, drove onto the grassy center median and struck a tree before coming to rest in the median. The driver of the Acura suffered fatal injuries was pronounced dead at the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

The primary cause of the crash is the Acura failing to remain in its lane of travel causing it to leave the roadway. Preliminarily, speed does not appear to be a factor in this crash. Toxicology results are pending. The crash is currently under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.

Assault w/ Knife / Ferndale

On March 7, 2021 at approximately 2:50 p.m. Northern District officers responded for a report of an armed subject threatening other individuals with a knife in the area of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and Ferndale Road in Ferndale. An adult suspect got into a verbal altercation with three teenagers. The victims reported that during the argument, the suspects pulled out a pocket knife, held it over his head and charged at the victims, slashing downward at one of the victims. The victims were able to evade the assault. Officers searched the area and located the suspect at the corner of North Broadview Boulevard and Hollins Ferry Road where he was positively identified by the victims. The suspect was arrested and charged.

On March 5, 2021 at approximately 10:05 a.m. Eastern District officers were on patrol in the area of the Royal Farm's located at 8551 Fort Smallwood Road in Pasadena when they observed a suspicious parked occupied vehicle. Upon speaking with the occupant, officers received information which led to a search of the vehicle resulting in the seizure of 206.86 grams of suspected marijuana, packaging materials and two digital scales. The occupant was arrested and charged.

Weapons Violation / Glen Burnie

On March 6, 2021 at approximately 12:40 a.m. Eastern District officers conducted a traffic stop on a blue Chevy Malibu in the area of Elvaton Road and Solent Breeze Court in Glen Burnie. Upon speaking with the driver officers determined the driver had a suspended license and an active arrest warrant. The driver was taken into custody. A black Hi-Point Firearms Model JCP .40 caliber, loaded with 9 rounds of ammunition was seized from the vehicle. The driver was arrested and charged.

On March 7, 2021, at approximately 1:40 a.m. Eastern District officers conducted a traffic stop on a black Hyundai in the area of Old Stage Road and Lenlow Court in Glen Burnie. Upon speaking with the driver the officer received information which led to a search of the vehicle resulting in the seizure of 213.95 grams of suspected Heroin, 20.14 grams of suspected marijuana and $512.00 U.S. currency. The driver was taken into custody and found to be in possession of 4.52 grams of suspected crack Cocaine. The driver was arrested and charged.

Western District
Robbery of a Citizen (Arrest)/ Severn

On March 7, 2021 at approximately 4:05 a.m. Western District officers were dispatched to a robbery of a citizen that occurred on Route 100 just prior to Route 97 in Severn. The victim advised that while traveling on Route 100, the suspect vehicle stopped suddenly for no apparent reason causing the victim’s vehicle to collide with the suspect vehicle, a white Pontiac sedan, which was occupied by a male and female. Both vehicles pulled to the side of the road to exchange information. While attempting to get her insurance information, the victim was assaulted by the suspects who took her wallet from her pants pocket. The suspects then fled from the scene. The victim followed the suspect vehicle but was advised by the dispatcher to stop following it for her own safety. Officers met with the victim who provided a description of the suspects and suspect vehicle. Officers located the suspects and suspect vehicle in the 900 block of East Jeffrey Street in Baltimore. Both suspects were positively identified by the victim and were taken into custody. The victim’s wallet had been discarded by the suspects but was soon located by officers. Both suspects were arrested and charged

CDS Violation- Weapon Violation/ Hanover
21-707550 

On March 7, 2021, at approximately 8:20 pm, a Western District officer conducted a traffic stop of a gray Nissan Altima at Arundel Mills Circle and Arundel Mills Boulevard in Hanover. Upon making contact with the driver, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana being emitted from inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle and occupants resulted in the seizure of approximately 187 grams of suspected Marijuana and a Glock 27 .40 caliber loaded with 13 rounds. The driver received a Juvenile Citation and the passenger was arrested and charged.
