On May 13, 2020 at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers responded to Crain Highway south (MD3) just north of Capitol Raceway Road in Gambrills for a two vehicle crash.

A Honda mini-van was southbound on Crain Highway intending to make a left turn while a Kawasaki motorcycle was approaching in the left turn lane adjacent to the Honda. The mini-van began to move into the left turn lane and the two collided.

The motorcyclist was pronounced dead on the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel. Both the driver and passenger from the mini-van remained on scene and were uninjured.

Preliminarily, the primary cause of the crash appears to be the driver of the Honda mini-van failing to remain in a single lane. Speed on the part of the motorcycle appears to have contributed to this crash as well. The use of drugs or alcohol do not appear to have been a factor, however results are pending toxicology tests. The Traffic Safety Section is handling the crash investigation.
