Officer Involved Shooting (Update) - Pasadena

On March 28, 2024, at approximately 1:35 p.m., officers responded for a report of an armed subject in a residence in the 8600 block of Gambier Harbor in Pasadena. Responding officers received information that the subject had shot and killed a cat inside the residence. Officers arrived at the residence and gave verbal commands to a 60-year-old female, instructing her to come out of the house. The woman stepped outside but then retreated into the house. The woman then exited the house armed with a handgun. Officers gave repeated commands for the female suspect to drop the firearm, but the suspect did not comply with the commands. The suspect then raised the firearm in the direction of the officers. Fearing for their safety, officers discharged their departmentally-issued firearms, striking the suspect. The suspect was transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in critical condition. A firearm was recovered at the scene. A cat was located, deceased, inside the residence from an apparent gunshot wound(s). The officers will be placed on administrative leave pending review by the Office of Professional Standards. Update (April 2, 2024):
The involved officers in this non-fatal officer-involved shooting have been identified as Corporal J. Glossner Jr., an 8-year veteran; Police Officer First Class M. Spates, a 4-year veteran; Officer C. Dixon, a 6-month veteran; and Corporal D. Holquist, an 18.5-year veteran. The officers are all assigned to the Bureau of Patrol.
The suspect remains in critical but stable condition at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
