Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash - Crofton

On May 22, 2024, at approximately 12:31 a.m., Western District officers responded to Crain Highway at Johns Hopkins Road for a crash involving two vehicles. The investigation revealed a 2017 Freightliner 114SD was traveling northbound on Crain Highway approaching a steady green signal at Johns Hopkins Road. A 2020 Honda Insight was traveling westbound on Johns Hopkins Road and ran the steady red signal at the Crain Highway intersection. The driver of the Freightliner was unable to avoid striking the Honda in the driver’s side as it crossed the intersection. The driver of the Freightliner was uninjured. The front seat passenger of the Honda was transported with serious injuries to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials.
This crash is under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.
