Eastern District
First Degree Assault / Attempted Robbery - Arnold

On May 2, 2022, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers responded to the 7-Eleven located at 730 Old Cape St. Claire Road for a report of an assault.  The 26-year-old male victim was involved in a motor vehicle collision with a black Ford Focus. After pulling into the parking lot of the 7-Eleven, the victim approached the driver of the other vehicle.  While the victim was speaking with the driver of the Ford, a passenger from the Ford became confrontational with the victim, displayed a knife, shoved the victim, threatened him, and demanded money.  The driver of the Ford separated the passenger from the victim, at which time the passenger removed a pair of sunglasses from the victim's vehicle.  The victim went into the store, and the passenger got back into the Ford and left the area.  The victim left the 7-Eleven and noticed he was being followed by the suspects, who threw a water bottle at the victim’s vehicle before heading off in a different direction. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle or suspect. Disorderly Conduct - Hanover

On May 2, 2022, at approximately 10:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of the Buffalo Wild Wings in the 7000 block of Arundel Mills Circle in Hanover for a report of a possible armed subject with a handgun. The caller reported a black male subject was acting erratic and appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance, and had a firearm inside of the waistband of his pants. Responding officers located the individual near the Arundel Mills Mall entrance. When approached by officers, the subject fled into the mall on foot. As the subject fled, officers observed him retrieve what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun from his waistband and discard it. After a brief foot pursuit, the subject was taken into custody without further incident. Further investigation revealed that the handgun discarded by the subject was a replica Sig Sauer 365 air pistol. The subject was arrested and charged accordingly.

On May 2, 2022, at approximately 7:50 p.m., officers responded to the area of Twisted Oak Place and Bakers Creek Lane in Hanover for an assault with a motor vehicle. The 30-year-old male victim was walking his dog across the street when a silver Hyundai Tucson approached at high speed. The vehicle stopped in front of the victim as he crossed, then accelerated, striking the victim. The victim rolled off of the hood of the Hyundai and onto the ground as the driver fled the scene. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the Hyundai. Commercial Robbery (Arrest Update) - Laurel

On April 7, 2022, at approximately 9:45 p.m., officers responded to the Dollar Tree located at 3401 Laurel Fort Meade Road in Laurel for an armed commercial robbery. An unknown male suspect entered the store, displayed a handgun, and demanded cash from the employee. The suspect threatened to shoot the employee if the employee did not comply. The employee handed the suspect an undetermined amount of currency, and the suspect fled on foot. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident. Western District detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to contact 410-222-6155 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

Armed Commercial Robbery (Arrest Update) / Laurel

On February 20, 2022, at approximately 8:45 p.m., officers responded to the Family Dollar store located in the 3400 block of Laurel - Ft. Meade Road for an armed robbery. Upon arrival, officers learned that a suspect entered the establishment, threatened the clerk with a gun, and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of US Currency. The employee was not physically injured in this incident. Robbery Unit detectives are investigating and ask anyone with any information to call 410-222-4720 or the TipLine at 410-222-4700.

UPDATES (May 3, 2022):

Through investigative means, detectives identified two suspects involved in the above cases and obtained warrants for their arrest.  Both suspects were taken into custody and charged accordingly.
