On November 13, 2021, at approximately 1:35 p.m. officers responded to the parking lot of the Travelodge located at 3380 Laurel Fort Meade Road in Laurel for a report of an assault. The 62-year-old male victim was going to his gold 1999 Dodge Caravan parked in the lot when he saw the suspect inside the van, attempting to start the ignition with a butcher knife. When the victim confronted the suspect, the suspect raised the knife to shoulder level and swung the knife at the victim. The suspect did not strike the victim with the knife. The suspect then fled on foot. A responding officer observed the suspect running from the scene and apprehended him after a short foot pursuit. The knife used in the assault was recovered. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.

Burglary - Hanover

On November 14, 2021, at approximately 5:20 p.m. officers responded for a burglary in progress at a residence in the 7400 block of Locust Road in Hanover. As the victim was returning home she observed the suspect exit her residence, holding a handgun. The suspect attempted to flee the scene in his vehicle, however, the vehicle was blocked by the victim’s vehicle in the driveway. The suspect fled on foot into a wooded area near the residence. Responding officers observed the fleeing suspect in the woods and established a perimeter. The suspect complied with officers’ orders to exit the woods and was taken into custody. The suspect was found to be in possession of property belonging to the victim. A search of the area by the police K9 unit resulted in the recovery of four handguns that were found to be stolen from the victim’s residence. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.

On November 13, 2021, at approximately 6:40 p.m. an officer was conducting a check of Bacontown Park located in the 3600 block of Whiskey Bottom Road in Laurel when he observed a white Lexus, parked and occupied in the closed park. The officer checked on the vehicle and noticed the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle as he approached. The investigation led to a search of the vehicle resulting in the seizure of a loaded 9mm Springfield XDM handgun and a small amount of suspected marijuana.

On November 12, 2021, at approximately 10:10 p.m. an officer observed a suspected CDS distribution transaction in the parking lot of the Wawa located at 701 Annapolis Road in Gambrills. The suspect left the area in a silver Kia Forte. Officers stopped the vehicle and found the driver to be in possession of a 9mm polymer 80 Glock 17 replica handgun and approximately 33 grams of suspected marijuana. The driver and a passenger were arrested and charged accordingly.
