Murder/Suicide (UPDATE) - Odenton

On November 1, 2023, at approximately 9:50 a.m., officers from the Western District responded to the 500 block of Retreat Court in Odenton for a suspicious death. Upon arrival, officers located a 34-year-old male victim inside a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). Additional information was received regarding the father of the victim who was discovered deceased at Fort George G. Meade Army installation from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigation revealed the father was responsible for the homicide of the 34-year-old victim.
The motive remains under investigation. The names of the suspect and victim are not being released at this time as notification to the next of kin is pending. Homicide detectives are investigating and ask anyone with any information to call 410-222-4731 or the TipLine at 410-222-4700.
Update (November 2, 2023):
The victim has been identified as 34-year-old Steven Michael Nabakowski of Odenton. The father was identified as Jack Michael Nabakowski, who resided with his son in Odenton. The final cause and manner of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.

Commercial Robbery Arrests - Glen Burnie

On November 1, 2023, at 8:06 p.m., an officer was conducting a proactive commercial business check of the Walgreens located in the 7900 block of Crain Highway in Glen Burnie when he observed two masked suspects exit the store with several large duffel bags and flee into an awaiting Nissan SUV. Upon observing this, the store manager immediately ran out of the store, chasing after the suspects and announcing that a robbery occurred.
Responding officers conducted an investigative traffic stop in the area of Crain Hwy and Route 97, where three suspects were detained. Officers learned the suspects were confronted in the act of stealing several items from the store when they announced a robbery and threatened the manager while continuing to load items before fleeing. All suspects were transported to Central Booking for charging.

Recovered Stolen Auto / Recovered Handgun Arrests - Crofton

On November 2, 2023, at 12:29 a.m., officers responded to the 1600 block of Parkridge Circle in Crofton for a report of four suspicious subjects in the area looking into vehicles. Upon arriving in the area, the officers located suspects in the act of a theft from auto. The suspects saw the officers and attempted to flee in a stolen Hyundai SUV, which struck a parked vehicle. The suspects then fled on foot.
Officers, with the assistance of the K-9 and police helicopter units, responded to search for the suspects. Detectives conducted an investigative stop of a suspicious vehicle, a silver Nissan Altima, in the area. Through investigation, three juvenile occupants were identified as suspects in the stolen auto and theft from auto. Detectives also located a handgun in the vehicle with an obliterated serial number. An adult driver and an adult passenger were arrested for the weapons violation. The three juveniles were arrested for their involvement in the theft from auto / stolen auto incidents. A fourth juvenile suspect was also located hiding underneath a nearby vehicle. That suspect was taken into custody, and evidence linked him to the theft from auto incident.
