Assault/homicide - Glen Burnie

On November 7, 2024, at approximately 8:20 p.m., officers responded to the area of East Furnace Branch Road and Margate Drive in Glen Burnie for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a male lying in the roadway with apparent gunshot wounds. The male, 51-year-old Scott David Guhse of Glen Burnie, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Fire Department personnel. Also located at the scene was a 22-year-old male who reported he was a victim of an assault and was also the alleged shooter in the incident. The Anne Arundel County Police Homicide Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation.
Homicide detectives and Evidence Collection Unit personnel arrived on scene where multiple items of evidence were collected at the crime scene, and witnesses were interviewed. Preliminary information in the investigation indicates the 22-year-old male was operating his motorcycle in the area of Route 10 and Furnace Branch Road when he noticed another vehicle tailgating him and driving erratically. The driver of the other vehicle pulled up alongside him and shouted at him. The other vehicle then nearly collided with the motorcycle, causing him to pull off the roadway. Both vehicles came to a stop on East Furnace Branch Road, where the driver of the other vehicle reportedly charged towards the 22-year-old while brandishing a hammer. At that time, the 22-year-old withdrew a handgun and shot the driver. The 22-year-old possesses a concealed handgun carry permit through Maryland.

Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash - Glen Burnie

On November 6, 2024, at approximately 12:20 a.m., officers were called to the area of Dorsey Road and Asphalt Road for a vehicle crash. The investigation revealed that an Acura RSX was traveling westbound in the eastbound lane of Dorsey Road when it struck an FRHT box truck head-on. The driver of the Acura was transported to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center and later pronounced deceased. The driver of the box truck was transported to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with minor injuries. The Traffic Safety Section is investigating this crash.
