Northern District

Attempted Carjacking / Shots Fired - Brooklyn Park

On October 9, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a shooting that resulted from an armed attempted carjacking at the Marathon Gas located at 5701 Ritchie Highway, Brooklyn Park. Upon arrival, officers learned that a 32-year-old adult male victim was approached by a male suspect brandishing a firearm, demanding the victim’s car keys. The victim complied initially but then quickly rushed the suspect, causing the suspect to fall backward, which resulted in the firearm being discharged. The bullet struck the windshield of the victim’s vehicle. The suspect then fled the scene on the back of a black moped operated by another unidentified subject. Officers conducted a search of the area but were unable to locate the suspects. The victim did not report any injuries. Western District

Drugs / Handgun Violation - Laurel

On October 9, 2024, at approximately 6:10 p.m., officers responded to the 3400 block of Bitterwood Place for a report of individuals smoking illegal substances. Upon arrival, officers observed a 25-year-old female smoking marijuana and using prescription pills. While on scene, officers also observed a 20-year-old male attempting to conceal an item in his hand. Further investigation revealed that the male was in possession of a .45 caliber Springfield handgun; he was apprehended without incident. The female was found to be in possession of approximately 39.63 grams of suspected cocaine and 9.52 grams of suspected fentanyl pills and also had an open arrest warrant. 

Both suspects were arrested and charged.
