Involuntary Manslaughter – Glen Burnie

On August 17, 2024, at approximately 7:15 p.m., officers from the Eastern District responded to the 8000 block of Winding Wood Road in Glen Burnie for an unresponsive two-year-old child. 
 
Upon arrival, officers located the unresponsive child lying face down inside the home. The child was transported to an area hospital and was later pronounced deceased. Homicide detectives assumed responsibility for the investigation. During the course of the investigation, evidence was recovered from the home, and interviews were conducted. The child was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy to be conducted. Toxicology results later indicated the presence of opioids in the child’s system. The child’s mother was subsequently charged with involuntary manslaughter, child neglect, reckless endangerment, and related charges.
