Information Sought - 2017 Fatal Pedestrian Related Crash / Severn

On October 28, 2017 at approximately 2:10 am officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck in the 7900 block of WB&A Road near Thompson Road in Severn.

Witnesses reported that the pedestrian had left a house party in the 7800 block of WB&A Rd and was walking southbound in the northbound lane with a group of people. The suspect vehicle was driving northbound at a high rate of speed and struck the victim who was apparently unable to get out of the vehicle’s path.

The pedestrian was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma with life threatening injuries and subsequently died on November 1, 2017.

The suspect vehicle did not remain at the scene. The vehicle is described as a silver passenger car with blue headlights and tinted windows. The damage is suspected to be to the right front bumper, hood area and windshield.

Suspect Vehicle: Silver vehicle with broken headlight assembly (clear portion) and windshield damage. The vehicle also has tinted windows.

Weapons Violation (Arrest) / Glen Burnie

On September 10, 2020 at approximately 7:15 a.m. officers responded for a subject with a handgun at the All Care Treatment Center located at 550 Crain Highway in Glen Burnie. Investigation revealed the security officer at All Care Treatment Center was approached by a male subject who was in possession of a handgun he just purchased. The subject was inquiring as to how to load and work the handgun. After speaking with the security officer the subject then got into a vehicle and drove away. Through investigations officers made contact with the driver and located the handgun in his backpack. The handgun was unloaded and did not have a firing pin. The subject was not in possession of ammunition. The driver was arrested and charged.

CDS Violation (Arrest) / Linthicum Heights

On September 10, 2020 at approximately 9:30 p.m. officers were conducting surveillance in the area of the Motel 6 located at 5179 Raynor Avenue in Linthicum due to numerous complaints of CDS distribution activity in the area. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a 2014 Nissan occupied by two individuals. Further investigation resulted in the recovery of CDS paraphernalia from the vehicle and 27 small plastic containers containing suspected Crack Cocaine from the passenger. The driver and passenger were arrested and transported to central booking. The investigation led to the execution of a search warrant at one of the rooms at the motel resulting in the arrest of a female suspect and the recovery of a capsule containing suspected Heroin, eight Suboxone strips and multiple pieces of CDS paraphernalia. The female located in the room was arrested and transported to central booking for processing.

Second Degree Assault / Edgewater

 

On Thursday, September 10, 2020 at approximately 8:42 a.m., Southern District Patrol Officers responded to a complaint involving an adult soccer coach. The juvenile victim responded to the Anne Arundel County Police Child Abuse Unit and was interviewed. The victim stated she was attending a soccer practice at the South River High School located in the 200 block of Central Avenue East, Edgewater, Maryland. The practice was organized by the soccer coach, identified as Kevin Clark Lyons, a fifty-two year old male from the 4400 block of Indigo Lane, Harwood, Maryland.

 

The victim advised practice had started at approximately 7:00 a.m. and ended at around 8:00 a.m. As practice wrapped up the victim was seated in her car as Kevin Lyons was talking with her as he was standing in the open doorway of her vehicle. Kevin Lyons then said “Hey” and as the female turned in his direction the coach tried to kiss her at which time she turned away and he kissed her cheek. The coach, Kevin Lyons, then stated “no” at which time the victim stated “no”. The suspect then walked back to his car and returned a short time later stating, “Let’s not make a big deal about this.” 

 

Detectives obtained digital evidence and conducted numerous interviews in regards to this incident. Working in conjunction with the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office Kevin Lyons was charged with the Second Degree Assault of the juvenile victim. On Friday, September 11, 2020 the commissioner’s office issued a summons in regards to the assault charge. As the investigation continues, the Anne Arundel County Police is urging any other victims or anyone with information regarding the above crime to contact the Anne Arundel County Child Abuse Unit at 410-222-4733. One can also remain anonymous by calling the Anne Arundel County Tip Line 410-222-4700 or Metro Crime Stoppers.
