Attempt Robbery (Commercial) - Severna Park
22-731861

On September 10, 2022, at approximately 4:00 a.m., officers responded for a hold-up alarm at the 7-Eleven at 497 Jumpers Hole Road in Severna Park. Upon arrival, the victim reported that the suspect entered the store and demanded money from the safe. Upon being told no, the suspect began making his exit from the store, taking a bag of candy as he left.  The victim advised the suspect had his hand in his pocket, and they believed he may be armed; however, no weapon was displayed or seen. The victim described the suspect as a black male, short, heavy set, wearing a red and green hooded sweatshirt.

Prior to officers responding for the hold-up alarm, officers were alerted to an abandoned vehicle at Severna Park Middle School at 450 Jumpers Hole Road in Severna Park. Upon their arrival, officers found the vehicle unoccupied, the front and rear driver’s side doors open, the front driver’s door window smashed, and the front passenger tire was flat. During their investigation, officers learned that the vehicle was wanted in connection to an aggravated assault in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The owner/operator of the vehicle matched the description of the suspect from 7-Eleven.

Approximately two hours after the attempted robbery, at 6:15 a.m., officers were dispatched for a report of a suspicious subject in the area of Holly Road and Riverside Drive in Severna Park. Officers converged on the area and began looking for the subject. At approximately 7:00 a.m., police communications received a call for a burglary that just occurred. The victim advised that a black male wearing a black ski mask with a red, yellow, and green shirt entered his house through an open garage door and attempted to obtain keys to a vehicle. When confronted by the homeowner, the suspect ran through the house, exiting through the garage. The homeowner pursued the suspect out onto the driveway, where the suspect claimed that his vehicle broke down and was looking for help. The suspect left the residence on foot. At approximately 7:15 a.m., officers located the suspect and, after a brief foot pursuit, were able to take him into custody without further incident. Based on information obtained during the investigation, the suspect was determined to be the same individual from the 7-Eleven, the abandoned vehicle, the suspicious subject, and the burglary. During his arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of a black semiautomatic handgun. The suspect was charged accordingly.
