On September 19, 2022, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers responded for a report of a carjacking that had just occurred in the 200 block of 5th Avenue in Brooklyn. The victim parked her vehicle and was still seated, talking on the phone, when the suspect opened the passenger door and got in. The suspect pointed a handgun at her and ordered her out of the vehicle, a white 2012 Nissan Murano SUV. After she exited the vehicle, the suspect got into the driver’s seat and left with the vehicle. The victim last observed the vehicle turning south on Ritchie Highway. Northern District detectives are investigating and ask anyone with information to call 410-222-6135 or the Tip Line at 410-222-4700.

CDS Violation - Brooklyn

On September 19, 2022, at approximately 11:50 p.m., an officer stopped a red Chevrolet Impala for a traffic violation in the area of Church Street and Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer noticed the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The investigation resulted in the seizure of suspected marijuana, suspected THC gummies, suspected Hashish (total weight approx. 526 grams), and $1024.00 U.S. currency.  The driver was arrested and charged accordingly.

Shooting (Contact) - Edgewater

On September 19, 2022, at approximately 12:30 p.m. officers responded for a report of a shooting that just occurred in the 300 block of Wilmer Place in Edgewater. Upon arrival, officers immediately encountered and detained two subjects in front of the residence. Officers entered the residence and located the victim lying on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers began rendering aid to the victim. Officers later learned that the victim and suspect, who was one of the subjects initially detained by officers upon their arrival, were involved in a physical confrontation inside the residence, and the suspect at some point grabbed a shotgun.  The victim stated that during the struggle inside the residence, the suspect shot the victim with the shotgun in the shoulder/neck area. The victim and suspect were known to each other. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The suspect was arrested and charged accordingly.

Weapons Offense - Laurel

On September 20, 2022, at approximately 1:00 a.m., officers responded for a report of shots fired in the area of Woodland Hills Way and Forest Haven Drive in Laurel. The caller indicated that they observed a red pickup truck leaving the area shortly after the gunshots were heard. Responding officers located an occupied red Ford pickup truck in the parking lot of Garden Inn at 3400 Laurel Fort Meade Road, which is approximately 1200 feet from the intersection where the gunshots reportedly were heard. Officers observed an alcohol violation and continued their investigation into the two occupants of the truck. During their investigation, officers recovered a handgun, a magazine with ammunition, 18 individual bags (approx. 13g) of suspected cocaine, one individual bag of suspected crack cocaine (approx. 0.5g), and one individual bag of suspected marijuana (approx. 0.5g). Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charged accordingly.
