Fatal Crash / Hanover

On September 8, 2020, at approximately 5:03 am, officers responded to MD 100 westbound at MD 295 for a multi-vehicle crash involving a truck-tractor.
A Freightliner truck-tractor (no trailer) was traveling westbound on MD 100 approaching MD 295. A Honda Civic was also westbound on MD 100. For an unknown reason the Honda struck the Freightliner from behind at a high rate of speed.
The Honda driver was pronounced dead on the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel. The driver of the Freightliner was uninjured.
Preliminarily, the primary cause of the crash appears to be the driver of the Honda failing to control speed to avoid a collision. Determination of drug and alcohol use is pending the results of toxicology testing. The Traffic Safety Section is handling the investigation.
