County Executive Steuart Pittman, the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities, the Area Agency on Aging Advisory Council, and Annapolis Recreation and Parks will hold a celebration event to recognize Older Americans Month. Each May, we celebrate Older Americans Month (OAM) and this year’s theme is Flip the Script On Aging. It is an opportunity to highlight and celebrate the many ways older adults can remain in and be involved with their communities. This year’s theme encourages a shift in how society perceives and interacts with older adults and encourages recognizing their continued value, contributions, and the diverse experiences that come with aging, rather than focusing on decline and stereotypes, with a goal of promoting a more positive, inclusive, and realistic understanding of aging. The event will feature live entertainment, giveaways, a resource fair, health screenings, and a complimentary lunch. Registration is now complete for this event. Attendees are strongly encouraged to carpool.
