Sanitary Sewer Overflow in Linthicum Heights

Annapolis, Maryland (June 8, 2023) – A foreign object in a manhole in a remote section of Linthicum Heights near Elkridge Landing Road caused a 98,100 gallon sanitary sewer overflow this week. Anne Arundel County Department of Public Works (DPW) officials reported all 98,100 gallons of wastewater entered Stoney Run before the spill was contained.

 

The overflow was first reported overnight on June 3, 2023. DPW crews were able to locate the damaged manhole, clear the blockage, and stop the overflow June 6, 2023. Crews also vacuumed the area and spread lime to minimize the impact. The overflow has been reported to the County Department of Health and the Maryland Department of Environment.

 

Anyone coming in contact with the affected ground is advised to immediately wash well with soap and warm water. Clothing should also be washed.
