Mayo Beach Park is a trash free park, which means we do not have trash cans.

  • Pack it in, pack it out! Please avoid bringing trash into the park and pack out any trash that you do.
  • A dumpster is available at the back of the park if absolutely necessary.
  • Why no trash can? Trash cans make more trash! Wildlife see trash as food, and will scatter the trash around the park. They often become dependent on trash as a primary food source, which can cause them to be unhealthy. Trash cans also smell, making for an unpleasant beach experience, drawing insects, and other critters. Being responsible for your own trash and reducing the amount you bring into the park is beneficial for wildlife and everyone’s park experience.

Handicap parking is available in two locations in the park.

  • One location is near our cartop launch with two handicap spots available. The parking lot has a packed gravel surface. There are two picnic tables near the handicap parking area with a great view of the bay and river. From the parking lot is a wheelchair accessible path, with a gravel surface, that takes you along the waterfront. At the waterfront, in the summer months, is a wheelchair accessible mat that goes out into the sand, but not all the way to the water. There is a port a pot near this handicap parking location.
  • The second handicap parking location is located in our main parking lot with two handicap spots. The parking lot is a loose gravel surface. From the parking lot is a concrete pathway that leads to restrooms and a rinsing shower (open spring, summer, fall). The path continues on to a wheelchair ramp. However, the slope of the ramp is somewhat steep. The ramp ends at a flat packed gravel pathway that goes along the water front and leads to a wheelchair accessible mat that goes out into the sand, but not all the way to the water.

There are two handicap accessible restrooms

  • The first restroom is located near the main parking lot and has a concrete pathway from the parking lot to the restrooms. There are flushing toilets with one handicap stall and lowered sinks in both the men and women’s restrooms
  • The second restroom area is located near the handicap parking lot by the car top launch and includes two handicap accessible portable restrooms, with no flushing toilets or handwashing sink. These restrooms are gender neutral.

Unfortunately, due to current construction, the wheel chair path to the playground is temporarily inaccessible. However, after construction is finished, it will be replaced and opened again.

  • Mayo Beach Park has an ADA accessible playground, with wheelchair accessible paths and wheelchair accessible features.
  • The paths to the playground are paved. There is an aeroglider, and a spinning feature that allows wheel chair access. There is also a ramp up into the main playground feature that allows children in wheelchairs to move throughout.
  • A paved path also leads to a picnic area near the playground.
  • Fun features for everyone are included in this space!
  • There are two ways to access the beach. See the parking drop down link for information on how to access the beach.
  • At the beach there is a beach mat that is wheelchair accessible that rolls out onto the sand, but does not go all the way to the water.
  • There are also many picnic tables just off of the gravel pathway along the beach area.
