West County Swim Center - Projects

Project Description

Indoor swim facilities were identified as a deficit in the 2017 LPPRP. The planned facility will be approximately 60,000 square feet and include a 50-meter competition pool to support Anne Arundel high school swimming programs, 6,000 square foot recreational play pool, kiddie pool, hot tub, party rooms and office, toilet, shower, locker, and other support areas.

Project Updates

In March 2025, Anne Arundel County acquired an approx. 13.5 acre site on Race Road in Hanover as the site for the new Swim Center.  Design of the new facility is underway.  Recreation and Parks will be holding a Public Meeting in mid-2025 to present the new site design. The Department of Recreation and Parks held a virtual Public Meeting on January 29, 2024, to input on the criteria for selecting the location of the West County Swim Center. Information shared at that meeting is linked below.
