Daniel J. Semick retired as a senior analyst of the U.S. Government Accountability Office, the nonpartisan agency that provides objective studies for Congress. During his tenure he led audits of more than a dozen federal agencies on a variety of topics including energy, environment, technology, and workforce planning. Currently he is Vice President of the Maryland Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and a member of the editorial advisory committee of ACFE’s Fraud magazine. Also, he serves as a public member of peer review committees of the Maryland Attorney Grievance Commission.
Previously Dan served as Vice Chairman of the County’s Spending Affordability Committee, Vice President of the Annapolis Neck Peninsula Federation, and President of the Cape St. John Citizens Association. He and his family continue to reside in Cape St. John.
Besides a B.A. in political science from Westminster College and a Master of Public Administration from American University, he has post baccalaureate certificates in accounting and paralegal studies from Anne Arundel Community College. Dan is a certified fraud examiner and a certified government financial manager. Also, he is a member of the Ethics and Integrity in Governance section of the American Society for Public Administration. He is a lifetime honorary member of Local #1921, International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers.
