Amy Thomas joined the Ethics Commission in June 2023. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. She holds a Master's degree in Human Resources Development from Towson University. She completed post-graduate studies in People Analytics from the University of Pennsylvania Wharton School of Business, learning how to use data to drive informed and ethical business decisions. She is certified in Mediation and Conflict Resolution and holds the SHRM-Senior Certified Professional designation from the Society for Human Resources Management.
Amy began her career in public service as a Human Resources Generalist for the State of Maryland, where she represented agencies on ethics administrative hearings. She worked as an HR executive at an engineering company that is a contractor for the US Department of Defense. She currently works for a hospital system promoting human-centric communications between technical teams using artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Amy volunteers as a bereavement support group facilitator for the Hospice of the Chesapeake. She lives in Edgewater with her husband and two daughters. Amy is committed to fostering meaningful connections, promoting inclusivity, and creating a positive impact through her community involvement. She actively works to broaden understanding and encourages collaboration among diverse perspectives.
