Overview

Broadneck Penninsula Trail is a planned, paved 10’ wide asphalt trail generally located within the right of way of College Parkway in Arnold with a mainline length of approximately 8 miles. When complete, the trail will ultimately connect the B&A Trail to Sandy Point State Park with multiple spurs and connections to keys points of interest along the College Parkway corridor and the surrounding area.

In addition to the local transportation and recreation benefits of this project, Broadneck Trail also ties to routes of national significance. The connection of the Broadneck Trail to the B&A Trail provides important links to and will eventually serve as part of the American Discovery Trail, an east coast to west coast national trail system extending from Cape Henlopen, Delaware to Point Reyes, California and the East Coast Greenway, another national route extending north to south from Maine to Florida.

Location

  • Green Holly Drive to East College Parkway at Peregory Park Place (0.87 miles)
  • Spurs: Cape St. Claire to Walnut Ridge (0.19 miles), Broadneck Library, Broadneck Park

For safety: No trespassing in construction zones is permitted

Location

  • East College Parkway at Peregory Park Place to Log Inn Road (1.8 miles)
  • Spur: Bay Head Park (0.22 miles)

Project Description

  • Phase 1B will extend from existing Phase IA terminus and connect to Bay Head Park
  • Phase IB and Phase V are being constructed concurrently and will be constructed in segments.

  • Significant unsuitable soils encountered onsite may result in delays to remaining portions of project 
  • Peregory Park Place to Revell Downs Drive: trail grading, prepping for paving, curb wall and drainage installation in process 
  • Revell Downs Drive to Bay Head Road: trail grading, prepping for paving, drainage installation in process
  • Bay Head Road to Yorktown Road: clearing and grubbing complete; erosion controls and drainage installed
  • Yorktown Road to Log Inn Road: clearing and grubbing complete; erosion controls installed; drainage installation in process. 
  • Bay Head Park Spur: not yet initiated
  • Flagman operations for single lane use along East College Parkway may be in effect during portions of project construction

  • Kimwood Drive to Jones Station Road East: partial paving, retaining walls, drainage installed; remaining trail grading, drainage, retaining wall in process; utility relocations in process 
  • Jones Station Road East to Peninsula Farm Road: retaining walls installed; trail grading, drainage in process
  • AACC improvements: partial paving at entrances installed; trail grading, prepping for paving in process, pending utility relocations 
  • Portions of College Parkway and cross streets within project limits will be impacted for final crosswalk installations and signal and intersection improvements
