Overview
South Shore Trail is a planned, paved 10’ wide asphalt trail generally utilizing the abandoned right of way of the Washington, Baltimore & Annapolis (WB&A) Railroad between Annapolis and Odenton, wherever feasible.
When complete, the trail will ultimately connect with the Colonial Annapolis Maritime Route on the east and the WB&A Trail on the west. This trail will provide significant local regional recreational and transportation benefits with multiple spurs and connections to keys points of interest along its route and the surrounding area.
South Shore Trail will eventually tie to other existing & proposed shared use routes in the Odenton Town Center area to the north and also ties to designated routes of national significance to the south. The connection of the South Shore Trail to the WB&A Trail and subsequently extension to the trail network in Prince George’s County provides an important link to the American Discovery Trail, an east coast to west coast national trail system extending from Cape Henlopen, Delaware to Point Reyes, California and the East Coast Greenway, another national route extending north to south from Maine to Florida.
South Shore Trail is open dawn to dusk.
