Maryland Department of Natural Resources Enacts Statewide Burn Ban

Effective immediately, The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has imposed a statewide open air burning ban in Maryland as of November 1, 2024. This ban applies to all counties in the state and includes campfires and charcoal grilling. The ban will remain in place until the Maryland Forest Service determines that the state has received enough precipitation to reduce the threat of wildfires.

Shoreline fishing is permitted at Lake Waterford Park. Come enjoy the beauty of the lake while casting a line! Fishing in the park is regulated by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. A Maryland Freshwater fishing license is required for fishing in non-tidal waters for all anglers 16 and older. A fishing license can be obtained at most local bait and tackle shops and local Walmart stores.

Fishing is prohibited in the protected wildlife area just south of the spillway - this is strictly enforced by park rangers.
