Residential Single Family Dwelling Permit

Includes but is not limited to: the construction or demolition and rebuild of a single family dwelling, interior and exterior alterations to an existing single family dwelling (foundation repair, finishing of basements) and anything attached to the single family dwelling (demo, additions, decks, porches, carports, garages, and sheds).

Please Note: If you are applying online using the Land Use Navigator system, you will enter application information online for the selected permit. Any additional applications, worksheets, or plans required will need to be uploaded to the system as attachments and can be downloaded below. Certain documents listed below may not be required for every project.

If you are submitting in person or by mail and have plans that exceed 11x17 inches, refer to the list of copies required.

Building Permit Application
A Residential Single Family Dwelling Permit is considered a Building Permit. If you are submitting in person or by mail, please download the application below. If submitting using the Land Use Navigator, you will enter application information online.

Construction Plans
Construction plans must be drawn to a recognized architectural scale and show the dimensions, type of materials to be used and depict how the structure will be constructed.

Site Plan
Site Plans must be drawn to an engineered scale and show the location, configuration and dimensions of proposed work. Easements, property lines, rights of way and location of a grinder pump, private well and septic systems must be clearly marked and labeled on the site plan.

Standard Grading Plan Application

The fee for a Building Permit is based on the estimated value of the work.

Apply In Person

Customers may apply in person at the Permit Center. Staff will assist you with submitting your application using the Land Use Navigator system at a kiosk. Please bring any plans that may be required.
