Outdoor Seating

All businesses that initiated outdoor seating during the COVID-19 pandemic must now file an Outdoor Seating Zoning Application.


  • Executive Order No. 22, the emergency ordinance that allowed food and beverage establishments to provide outdoor seating service during the COVID-19 pandemic, will expire on August 1, 2024.  

  • In accordance with County Council Bill 16-24, unless the business has a previously approved site plan or permit that included outdoor seating areas, all businesses that initiated outdoor seating during the emergency must now file an Outdoor Seating Zoning Application with the Zoning Administration Section in the Office of Planning and Zoning, in order to continue the outdoor seating services.

    Note that this application cannot be submitted via the Land Use Navigator (LUN)
