Candace Antwine was born on May 18, 1976, in Tupelo. She was a U.S. Navy Veteran where she spent time working for the Naval Security Group, the Department of Defense and the Department of Homeland Security. Antwine earned a bachelor’s degree from the Mississippi University for Women and a master’s degree from Webster University.

Antwine’s true passion was making the schools a better place for student. She successfully won a seat on the Board of Education, died July 16, 2021 from complications from deep vein thrombosis, according to the school system. She was 45 years old.  A benefit dinner will be given in her honor on April 29, 2022.
