The County Executive's Office is seeking individuals to serve on a variety of county boards and commissions. The volunteer work done by these boards and commissions is an essential part of our efforts to make Anne Arundel County The Best Place - For All.

Veterans Affairs Commission

# Vacancies: 3 Vacancies

Requirements:

  • 1 opening for voting members of the Veterans Affairs Commission
  • 2 openings for non-voting members of the Veterans Affairs Commission

Requirements: 

  • Submit to a background investigation 
  • Successfully complete the Police Training and Standards Commission's required week-long training before serving as a member; and 
  • Sign an agreement to maintain the confidentiality of matters and information considered by the ACC until final disposition.
  • Must be available to meet on the first three Mondays of each month between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.

Requirements: Voting members shall be subject to a criminal background investigation before beginning to serve. Restrictions: An active police officer may not be a voting member of the Police Accountability Board. A person may not be appointed as a voting member of the Board if the person has been convicted of, pled guilty to, or received probation before judgement for the following:1. a crime of violence, as defined in § 14-101 of the Criminal Law Article of the State Code; 2. domestic violence; 3. a felony in Maryland; 4. a crime that is a felony in another State or in a federal proceeding that would be a felony in Maryland; or 5. theft, dishonesty, fraud, or another crime of moral turpitude. Requirements: The Planning Advisory Board (PAB) is seeking a representative from Council District 6. The PAB is a volunteer board of seven members appointed by the County Executive. Each member comes from one of the seven council districts. The PAB makes advisory recommendations to the County Executive, Planning and Zoning Officer and the County Council relating to master plans, zoning maps, rules and regulations relating to zoning, Capital Budget and Program and amendments to the Budget. In addition, in accordance with Code of Maryland § 5-104, the PAB reviews and makes recommendations for major subdivisions within the County’s designated Tier III area. The Planning Advisory Board meets at 6:00 PM on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month if there is a need to meet. The Planning Advisory Board also meets during the day on the last three Fridays in February to review the County's Capital Improvement Budget.

Requirements:  Reside in Anne Arundel County; subject to a background check; NOT an active law enforcement officer; willing to sign a Financial Disclosure Form annually; and willing and able to commit a significant amount of time on an intermittent basis.
