crossing guard

The school year is just weeks away and there are 57 crosswalks in the county that will not have crossing guards.

I have heard from some parents and members of the community who would be interested in becoming a crossing guard to fill the gaps, but the requirement to work both AM and PM shifts is not possible.

After sharing your thoughts with me, I reached out to the Anne Arundel County Police Department (AACPD) and inquired if they would be able to change this policy, even for just one school year.

AACPD thought this was an idea worth pursuing.

The policy to work both morning and afternoon shifts is LIFTED.

If you can consistently work an arrival time OR consistently work a dismissal time and would like to help cover a school crosswalk, please consider applying.

Thank you to the AACPD for taking this idea into consideration and working together to help get our kids to school safely.

(Please note the link below still reflects the two shift requirement as the page has not yet been updated).
