Positive COVID-19 Coronavirus case identified in Anne Arundel County

Statement from County Executive Steuart Pittman:

Earlier today, County Health Officer Dr. Nilesh Kalyanaraman informed me that we have a positive case of COVID-19 coronavirus in Anne Arundel County. We have been preparing for this possibility since January. I will be holding a press conference at 4:30 p.m. at our Emergency Operations Center in Glen Burnie.

The individual is in their 70s and is currently hospitalized. This case is related to domestic travel. The individual had limited contacts, and they have been identified and notified.

The health of county residents, visitors and county employees is our top priority. We want to keep our residents well-informed and prepared. At this time, there is no reason to panic, but we do want to reinforce preventive measures we can all take against COVID-19. We will share more information at 4:30. The press conference will be live-streamed here:
